With the overclock, the max write speed has been increased to about 70mb/s on this camera. The EOS M used here is normally able to write at a max speed of 40mb/s. This video demonstrates the newly discovered ability to overclock the camera's SD card interface. The advantage of that (rather than recording with the full sensor area) is you can shoot at higher resolutions, there's no moire/aliaising and no fixed pattern noise in the shadows. Yes that's always been the case on these Canon cameras with magic lantern - you can record in 'crop mode' by selecting 5x magnification. So a 50mm lens becomes 167mm full frame equivalent.
